Villa Argentina reopened in 2026 after a major reconstruction of the former Grand Villa Argentina. The hotel remains in Ploče, above the sea and around 700 metres from Dubrovnik Old Town, but the rooms, spa, restaurants and pool areas have all been reworked.
The current hotel has 96 rooms and suites split between the original villa and the newer hotel section, with sea-view and balcony categories in both.
Grand Villa Argentina is now Villa Argentina
The old Grand Villa Argentina closed for a multi-year renovation and reopened in 2026 as Villa Argentina Dubrovnik. The address and Ploče setting are the same, but much of the hotel has changed.
Reviews and room photographs published before the 2026 reopening show the former Grand Villa Argentina and may no longer match the hotel today.
Location: Ploče, east of the Old Town
Villa Argentina is on Frana Supila in Ploče, around 700 metres from Dubrovnik Old Town. The Old Port, Ploče Gate and Stradun are all within walking distance.
The hotel sits on the slope above the sea, with gardens and terraces dropping towards the waterfront. The setting gives it wide views towards Lokrum and the Old Town, but it also means there are changes of level around the property.
Rooms: The Hotel and The Villa
The 96 rooms and suites are divided between two parts of the property. The official booking system labels them simply as The Hotel and The Villa.

If you want both a sea view and outdoor space, check that both are included in the room category. Some rooms have a balcony without a sea view, while others include both.
Pools, sea access and spa
The rebuilt spa is much larger than the one described on older versions of the hotel page. Villa Argentina now has an indoor pool measuring 18 x 4 metres and an outdoor pool measuring 28 x 5 metres.
The indoor spa also includes four treatment rooms, a manicure room, sauna, steam room, Himalayan salt room, ice fountain, heated loungers and a gym with cardio and weight equipment.
Outside, the pool and sun terraces sit among the gardens above the sea. Cala Beach Club occupies the waterfront area, with direct access to the Adriatic below the hotel.
Dining
The current hotel has three named venues:
- Liz at Villa Argentina is the main restaurant, serving Mediterranean food built around Adriatic seafood and local ingredients. Current published hours are 07:00-23:00.
- Cala Beach Club is the daytime venue by the sea, currently listed from 10:00 to 18:00.
- Copper Bar sits in the garden and serves drinks into the evening. Current published hours are 12:00-00:30.
Opening hours can change with the season, particularly at the beach club.
Parking and arrival

What changed in 2026?
The 2026 reconstruction changed much of the hotel. Villa Argentina now has a new room inventory, an expanded indoor-outdoor spa, a new outdoor pool, redesigned gardens and new restaurant and bar concepts.

Villa Argentina or Hotel Excelsior?
Hotel Excelsior is a little closer to the Old Town, while Villa Argentina has more garden space and a newly rebuilt spa and pool area. Both have direct sea access and views towards Lokrum and the historic centre.
The difference in walking distance is small, so the room category and price for your dates are likely to matter more.
